2024 - 2025

Taylor County District School Board

Wendy Slaughter, Transportation Coordinator        1004 E Bay St Perry, Florida 32347

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  Our Taylor County School District Transportation Department is excited to get back on the road.  The responsibility that guides that effort is immense. Our staff will not budge an inch without an abiding commitment to do it safely, dependably, and efficiently. Our buses are clean, disinfected, and ready.  Employees have received training & the necessary supplies needed to combat the spread of COVID.    We will use all of resources to provide a safe ride daily, for everyone.

Please review the routes and choose the stop closest to your home.  Several routes have changed so please make sure you check for new bus numbers, new stop times & location.  We ask students to be at their stop five (5) minutes prior to their assigned pick-up time. When the bus is approaching the stop student should be out of their vehicle ready to board the bus as soon as the door opens.  As we attempt to maintain our set schedule, often times the bus is late due to weather, mechanical issues or student tardiness.  It is our goal to have all students to their respective schools for breakfast & first bell.

Bus rules and registrations will be handed out to students the first week of school. We ask you fill out the registration forms completely, with current contact information.  This information is critical in case of an emergency.  To help ensure the safety of your children, take a moment to discuss the safety rules with them. Riding the bus is a privilege and repeat offenders with multiple referrals will lose their privilege.  It is important parents/guardians work closely with the driver to help maintain an orderly, safe environment on the school bus.

I have a fleet of drivers, bus aides, mechanics & office staff with the experience needed for the job. I am very proud to have such an amazing team to work with.   We are honored to transport the most precious cargo in Taylor County and will always take pride in “Transporting Our Youth into A Positive Future”.

Respectfully,

Wendy Slaughter, Transportation Coordinator

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Thank you for the opportunity to transport your children to and from school.  We take pride in our district and want to provide a safe ride for all our students.

The Transportation Department needs the support of our parents to explain the importance of bus expectations.  We ask you to go over the Bus Rules with your children.  It is important for everyone involved to understand we are committed to providing every student a safe, enjoyable ride to/from school.  Without help from home, this would not be possible.  Remember, our Taylor County School Board has adopted a plan that will result in loss of bus privileges for repeat violators of Bus Safety Rules.  It only takes ONE student distracting their bus driver to endanger the safety of all students.

Parents, please refrain from trying to board a school bus for any reason.  Our Drivers/Staff can be reached at 838-2505.  For the safety of everyone, each bus is equipped with a camera system.  We randomly view video for quality assurance & training purposes.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact our department.  We look forward to a safe 2020-21 school year in Taylor County!

Please complete and return the attached registration form as soon as possible.

Every Student Must Submit a Bus Registration Form to be eligible for bus service.

Respectfully,

Wendy Slaughter, Transportation Coordinator
