On October 28th members of the Steinhatchee community gathered in the Steinhatchee School gym to celebrate Steinhatchee School earning their second straight “A” school grade.  Principal Bray credited the collective efforts of students, staff, and a supportive community for their success.  At the event Principal Bray said, “The 86 points earned for our school grade place Steinhatchee School in the top 5 of Title I Elementary Schools in the entire state.  This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work of our students, teachers, and our strong community partnerships with Boys and Girls Clubs of America, as well as Character Education Now.”  He also praised the assistance of the Parent Involvement Team, School Advisory Council, and community sponsors, in supporting student achievement.  Taylor County School Board member, Jeannie Mathis, was on hand to present a plaque to Principal Bray commemorating the school’s success on behalf of the district.    Drawings were held by school staff and 18 tablets were given away to students that were present at the event.  However, the highlight of the evening was a “cartwheel challenge” with students showing off their skills on the court.  Students then called on Principal Bray to make good on his promise to join in on the fun and after consulting with his coach, 5th grader Cheyenne Corbin, he shocked everyone by nailing five cartwheels in a row!
