Virtual School Information (Open enrollment for fulltime virtual for 2017-18 will start April 3, 2017)

The Taylor County School District, in partnership with the K12 Florida Virtual Programâ„  (FLVP), will launch a free full-time K-5 virtual instruction program. To be eligible for the program, students must have spent the prior school year in attendance at a public school in Florida or be the dependent of a member of the military who was transferred in the last 12 months. Click here to access the FLVP website. The FLVP program gives you all the benefits of a tuition-free public school, but with the flexibility of schooling at home. Students enrolled in the program get:

  • Curriculum and programs for grades K- 5 from the nation’s leading provider of online curriculum, K12
  • Award-winning online lessons, with hands-on activities, books, and support from expert teachers
  • A program individualized to students’ needs

Students in grades 6-12 have the option of using Florida Virtual School (FLVS), which is a different program from FLVP. FLVS is operated by the State of Florida (click here to access the statutes relating to FLVS), and provides students with the opportunity to access curriculum in a non-traditional format. Courses at FLVS are state-approved courses taught online and can taken as part of the student's daily schedule as well as for acceleration and credit recovery. Click here to access the FLVS website.

  • Students may take FLVS courses in addition to a full-day schedule or as part of their regular school day. Students may also access courses during the summer.
  • FLVS offers courses in grades 6-12, and students may be concurrently enrolled in FLVS and the Taylor County School District.
  • Courses successfully completed at FLVS will be accepted by the Taylor County School District and placed on the student's transcript.
  • A student who enrolls in a high school credit course with FLVS will be required to accept the high school credit and the grade received, which will be entered on the student’s high school transcript and will be included in the calculation of GPA.
  • All FLVS course requests must be approved by the student's school guidance counselor.
